This is Cardboard?

Action figures from the major toy companies during the '90s were not as detailed or super articulated like they are today with Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, Mafex, Hot Toys, and Mondo.

Even though I loved the vintage toys, most figures looked very simple based on the toy manufacturing technology of the time, which led me to make my own out of cardboard. I wanted more detail, more accuracy to the character, more articulation, and larger scale.

The cardboard action figures shown were made more than 30 years ago between the years 1990-1996, mostly during the summers that I had off from college. Each custom action figure was made from cardboard, acid-free paper, colored pencils, black marker, clear vinyl, transparent tape, metal fasteners, hook and loop fasteners, patience, and plenty of time.

X-Men Cardboard Action Figures Collection

X-MEN

The heroes and villains of X-Men all have a unique mutant power that makes them hated by the rest of the world for being different. They were the best comic books and animation of the 1990s. I loved Jim Lee's art and wanted figures that looked like they jumped off the page.

STAR WARS

The battle between the Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Empire a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. These were the last figures designed as my drawing skills improved over a few years to make them look more realistic.
